The Beat of Rock Music

When we hear the music of rock, it consists of different rhythms, which would create a sound that makes us beat and move. Rock music is known as “rock and roll”. From the word ‘rock’ it means we beat and ‘roll’ for a move. Rock music was initially seen as dance music and gradually began to dominate the music scene for a long time to come. Rock music is still present up to this time, and it has played in various stages of recording technology and it has been a collector’s item even as of today and has been primarily popular with teenagers. Rock music has been, impulsive creature that has constantly redefined and reinvented. Aside from rock music, the music itself helps in improving memory. It can shake off the different words and alphabets, and touches the hearts over in the world.

Well, rock music can generally be described as hard-edged music performed with electric guitars, bass, and drums, and it is accompanied by a vocalist. Some rock music also uses keyboard instruments such as the organ and piano.

Here are some lists of rock music:

1.    Hard rock - is typified by a heavy use of distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, pianos, and keyboards. Hard rock is strongly influenced by blues music; the most frequently used scale in hard rock is the pentatonic, which is a distinctive of blues scale.

2.    Soft rock - also referred to as, light rock, or easy rock. Often combined with elements from folk rock and singer-songwriter pop to compose a softer, more toned-down sound for listening. Soft rock songs generally tend to focus on themes like love, daily life and relationships. The genre tends to make heavy use of acoustic guitars, pianos, and at times saxophones. The electric guitars in soft rock are normally shadowy and high-pitched.

3.    Alternative rock - Doesn't really fit into any of the categories. Actually, alternative rock consists of various subgenres that have emerged from the independent music, such as Britpop, gothic rock, and indie pop. These genres are unified by their collective debt to the style of punk rock, which laid the groundwork for alternative music.

7.    Punk rock - commonly, short songs with a fast rhythm about dissatisfaction with the government or in the society. It is fast, stripped-down, machine gun music that stormed in, shot up the place and left just as suddenly. Punk rock is usually brief and has confrontational, frustrating lyrics.  Punk rock made it sound like people wanted to change the world, not just whining about it.

8.    Ska - a mix of band instrument like the trumpet, guitar and drums and stuff.  Reel big fish, sublime are examples of ska. It is also a union of music that combines ska and punk rock.

Indie rock is a fairly ambiguous term, and can be used to define a wide variety of different bands and musicians. However, in general, an indie rock musician has a very persuasive do-it-yourself principle, and do not change their sound to suit popular trends.
